The Bryn Estyn care home which have been closed was in the news due to the trial against a former employee. The buildings now house a conference center named Erla Centre. Former employees were sentenced for offenses like violating boys as young as 12, offences of buggery, attempted buggery and indecent assault.
It is safe to conclude that it could not have been fun to be there as a child.
Recently the authorities intervened and removed more than 30 boys from the ranch located near Prescott in the state of Washington. One of the employees are investigated for third-degree child molestation and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
The result of a visit by both the Walla Walla County detectives and Child Protective Services case prompted the authorities to relocate the children at the ranch.

Located on the same property as the now-closed New Horizon Academy, the school was raided by the police. The water on the property is still contaminated. It is not safe to drink. Apparently the employees have something to hide as the police arrested on the employees for obstructing an officer executing the search warrant.
A lot on their website indicate that they use the same structure as the other company. It seems that the methods used by the now-defunct WWASP chain are still used by small firms who rent property at buildings that previous housed WWASP schools.
It remains unclear what they treat the teenagers for. Back in the WWASP days it was only about detention of children, the parents did not have time for. A lot of games were constructed to make it look like it was treatment but it was basically the same nonsens you see at many sales conventions motivating good spirit and results. It was not treatment of serious mental health issues.
It cannot be fun to be there as a teenager.
While the school in general has a good reputation, parents might ask themselves if the school has implemented enough precautions to prevent another teacher like the convicted Bateman from taking pornographic photos of students. The teacher was convicted of storing some 300 photos – some of a victim at the school aged 16 when the photos were taken.
Secondly other employees were named in a long line of incidents which should not have been taken place involving minors.
It cannot be fun being a teenager to know that photos of you naked are in the hands of employees, who can use them as they like.

Whenever a child and a counselor is alone in a room at a facility like Renewed Hope Ranch, there should be some video security not only to protect the child but also the professional reputation of the counselor. It seems that a staff member at Renewed Hope Ranch in Enoch either forgot that or turned off the security system with purpose.
Now the police is investigating which is the only way because they are the only one who can determine whether criminal activity took place.
If there was a purpose by shutting off the video security it is safe to say that it could not have been fun to be there as a teenager.
The idea sounded good. Taking in at-risk teenagers and teaching them faith and be a guide for them.
Unfortunately they guided the teenagers in other more personal matters which benefitted them also.

The Christian Children’s Ranch in Eagle was mentioned in the news in 2015. The authorities arrested the owners and charged them with sexual battery on a minor and sexual abuse of a child.
The organization which ran the ranch was very quick to distance themselves from the couple. However such a small place shouldn’t require very much oversight to the question everybody ask themselves is whether the management did their duties they are required to perform when dealing the teenagers.

Oasis Academy was located in Orem, Utah. It was first mentioned around 1994. In 2006 it was reported that a senior staff member had committed suicide while being on the run on charges of child porn possession.
It could not have been fun to be forced to remain together with such a person far away from your parents as a teenager.

Elmbridge Boarding School was the result of a 1980 merger between the Fyfield Boarding School and two boarding schools Hockerill and Elmbridge located in Essex. The new school was named Elmbridge.
Fyfield Boarding School was founded in 1958. The buildings had housed a truant school from 1885 and was run under different names like West Ham Truant Industrial School, Fyfield Certified Industrial and Truant School. From 1925 it was known as The Fyfield Open Air School or West Ham Open Air School. Due to the WWII the school closed down and the buildings served other purposes during the war before it opened as boarding school again in 1958.
Below is a video recorded in 1995 from the school.
Recent arrests show that it was more than a rumor that there was abuse going on at this now-closed boarding school for boys. The school was located in Ongar, Essex. Brentwood Police is doing the investigation.
The children were shown porn movies, provided with alcohol which due to their limited experience into drinking made them easy targets. Rapes were mentioned in the media.
