834. Trinity-Pawling School

The Trinity-Pawling School is mentioned in a lawsuit and on websites of law-firms looking for clients who could hire them to sue the school for a small fee.

833. The Gow School

The Gow School came to the attention of the media when alleged victims of abuse stepped forward and ended what was silence after the alleged rapes conducted by an English teacher. Stress due to the alleged rape has meant difficulties for the victims to move forward in life.

The school made their own investigation instead of handing the matter over the police. The school concluded that the circumstances no longer were present in 2002. However the incidents, the former students made aware off, took place before this year.

So it could have been likely that the abuse took place and that is why it is odd that the school chooses to investigate a later period.

It could not have been fun to be there as a teenager back in the 1990’s

832. Catlin Gabel School

A boarding school in Oregon located near Portland – the Catlin Gabel School – has been in the media due to lawsuits made by former students claiming that they were exposed to sexual abuse.

The lawsuit also target the school for lack of protection of the students from employees with the wrong intentions.

It could not have been fun to be there as a teenager being victims of such actions.

831. Storm King School

When children live on boarding schools separated from their parents who are supposed to protect them from abuse and sexual advances, they live an exposed life.

That can be true for students at Storm King School. In 2011 a parent claimed that he was not keep up-to-date about possible rape of his daughter. Possible cover-up by employees is the theme of an article from PRlog.

In 2020 The Daily Voice reported an arrest of a student on suspicion of several cases of abuse and child endangerment.

This show that precautions are needed to make sure that the students are protected when they are forced to live as exposed to dangers as children are in boarding schools.

It cannot be fun as a teenager to be victim just because your parents are too busy with their own lives so they fail the job as a parents leaving you unguarded.

830. Ministerial Christian Academy

In 2004 the authorities intervened against an unregistered boarding school located in Pomona, California. The authorities removed handcuffs, shackles, computers, financial records and other documents during the raid.

While one of the employees were arrested on suspicion of rape with a foreign object and sexual battery of a female student, later the police dropped the case. The employee was a registered sex offender.

The media coverage of the raid spoke of students being restrained in handcuffs, left for hours in cramped, darkened storage rooms and forced into a cold swimming pool as punishments.

It is not clear if the investigation led to real prison time or a plea deal involving fines.

It could not have been fun to be there as a teenager.

829. Portora Royal School

Today it is a day school but it was also partly a boarding school in the old days. The Internet contain a lot of articles which suggest abuse of young boys by older men. Needless to say that the social status of some of those men has made it difficult to investigate the possible crimes.

However, should the media at some point collect the courage to investigate the past before all the victims have died, the society in general will be shocked.

Regardless if that will happen or not, it is safe to say that it could not have been fun to be there as a boy.

828. CALO Teens

CALO Teens also known as Calo Institute was founded in 2007. It is located near Lake of the Ozarkz. Their target group is teenagers with emotional challenges.

In the media the facility was mentioned due the imprisonment of an employee which had sex with a 14-year-old girl he encountered working for the so-called residential treatment center.

A quick research shows children running away from the facility too. People from the LGBT community complains about the treatment, they received as teenagers.

It cannot be fun to be there as a teenager.

827. Maseno School

Maseno School is a boarding school founded in 1906.

Former students speak of caning, being deprived of food and sleep and not least sodomy claims. The police intervened in 2019.

It could not have been fun to be there as a teenager.

826. Pillars of Hope

Pillars of Hope was a boarding school operating under the WWASP franchise. It was created after Academy at Dundee Ranch, which were located on the same address, was raided by the authorities.

Former students speak of schools in the franchise as private run prisons. It could not have been fun to be there as a teenager.

825. Teen Mentor

Teen Mentor or Mentor Academy was a short-lived boarding school which was raided by the authorities in 2011. There were allogations of abuse involved in the decision to close down the school.

It seems that it could not have been fun to be there as a teenager.
