237. Rocky Top Academy

A boarding school where the manager is charged with assault, deviant sexual conduct, criminal endangerment, burglary, theft and deceptive practice cannot be fun for any student.

The manager going under names like Tom Gregory Finucane and Tom Gregory had a history of opening school in various states. One of the facilities, he ran was named Eagle Canyon Outpost. The authorities shut his projects down one by one.

236. Pinehaven Christian Children’s Ranch

Pinehaven Christian Children’s Ranch was founded in 1976 according to various sources and it seems like they have remained in 1976.

Several teenagers have escaped from the ranch. Hard labor is used a punishment.

It doesn’t sound like a fun place to be as a teenager.

235. New Horizons Youth Ranch

New Horizons Youth Ranch is one of “We fix everything” ranches in Montana. However there is lack of qualified employees, education is not of a modern standard. The Students end up being behind their old classmates at home.

A parent states:

In our situation, despite many phone calls, he never received any treatment from a qualified counsellor or a doctor. Would it have made a difference? Who knows? The appointments were never made. The promised weekly phone calls rarely came, and it was very stressful. To be fair, the ranch was undergoing much change while D was there. They were moving, there was family emergencies, new staff coming on board. and others leaving. School never started until mid October that year. We discovered too late that D had not completed his credits. There were no consequences and no returned phone calls.

It doesn’t sound like a fun place to be as a teenager.
