197. Bethel Boys Academy

Corporal punishment, raids by the authorities followed by taking a number of new names trying to restart the business and prevent parents from finding out the truth.

It doesn’t sound like a fun place to be as a teenager.

It is a good place, when our son would not live by our family rules ( we were not tyrants ) he spent a couple of years there and did not come home any the worse. Today he is a fine upstanding, employed, respectful, mature family man and was also a displinarian with his kids who also have turned out to be good citizens !

I am happy it worked out for your son but the investigations made by the authorities did not come to its conclusion without reason. Otherwise the owners would have challenged it in court and won. They didn’t.

i respect your son therefore i respect you but dont paint this place to have been good

anyone who thinks we came out none the worse just wants to believe what they are saying. the harsh reality of it is it was torture…literally. and it does weigh on your son….maybe talk to him about it.

I know 100’s of victims, parents that leave comments like that try to remain in the dark out of guilt. I respect your guilt because most parents feel we aren’t doing a good job when our children begin messing up. Had your child done something bad enough you could have let the court system with an actual Judge/Jury decided his/her fate. I assure they would not have been beaten, starved, tortured, or sexually abused. They would have served a sentence to fit their crime. My guess is they didn’t commit a crime.

I have seen so many things and experienced them here… I had polo, drill instructor Knotts pit bull sicced on me, the drill instructor biting my back, being worn out for hours, witnessing kids being drop kicked like no one ever should. Beatings and hazing no one should ever endure and was there when they came and investigated because of the kid with kidney failure… yes I suffered for many years from what happened and still to this day repress some memories of the place…
